Alan Weinrib BBC ( Born Before Computers ). Alan, although one of the pioneers of internet betting he admits to be brain dead on any IT issues regarding computers.
In 1974 Alan started Playmate racing, a retail chain of traditional betting shops, and built up Ireland's largest legitimate telephone credit betting business with clients world wide. The retail shops where eventually sold to Coral UK. Alan then started a second chain of shops called PM Racing, and in 1997 these where sold to Mecca Racing UK.
The telephone credit business was bought by Mark Blanford in his pre SportingBet.com days. In 1997 Alan joined Tim Lamb as a consultant to help him set up one of the Internet's first fully interactive betting websites, EasyBets.com. He then went on to head the company as president and risk manager, taking the company from zero turn over to 150 million US dollars per annum within three years.
In 2000 Alan set up Webgaming consultants and joined Conor Foley in the setting up of Worldspreads PLC Sprtsspread betting division.
Alan has consulted to several major gaming companies in South Africa and with the change to their In gaming laws in 2009 is opening up an office in Cape Town in Janurary 2010. Alan consulted with many major projects looking to add or start a sports book in Europe, Israel, South Africa, and Hong Kong and now is working on a major mobile betting project in South Africa for a payment and betting platform for the emerging markets.
